Souls in the Skies

The sky was purple this morning.

It was a sky unlike any other I'd had the privilege of seeing. I have been noticing more of how the sunrises have continually gotten more and more lovely as time has gone on. Some may say this has to do with climate...no, I protest...I choose to believe(and my heart agrees) that as more beautiful souls enter heaven's gate, the more beautiful the skies become.

Newest Memory

Tonight, on my walk with Stella, I made some new and fresh memories with an album. One of the things I love most about music is its ability to make you feel.  But as wonderful as it can be to turn on a song and be instantly transported back to being thirteen years old, or to that summer evening on Delmar, or the day I received my first record player and listened to my first 45...it can also be take me right back to that gut wrenching first heartbreak, or the day my dad moved out of the house, or the car ride home from my grandfather's funeral.

It's refreshing to find new music, it's like a blank canvas. I am free to make memories that can then be associated with said music from here on out.

Tonight's memories consisted of me singing to Stella as we headed down the street, breeze blowing in our hair(fur), sweating(through pores/tongues), and walking perfectly in sync. A simply lovely, new memory that this album will now always take me back to.

Today I heard the sweetest melody. It reached into my body and hugged my heart. Thank God for music.

What If?

What if I fall?

Oh, my darling, but what if you fly?

Cardiomega

I do believe that there are designated moments in your life where everything lands just so in perfect harmony that it causes a near heart combustion. A bursting of the heart, if you will. I live for these moments. If only we could consistently recreate and relive them. Evermore.

On days like today, I have to take a detour. Turn the music up, and take the long way home. Because I wish the ride would last forever. So we could keep singing.

Gold Crescendo and Silver Muting

if i believe
in death be sure
of this
it is

because you have loved me,
moon and sunset
stars and flowers
gold crescendo and silver muting

Six Roses For A Fool

Tuck me in early
So tomorrow comes 'round sooner
And we'll take off into a sailor's warning sunrise

Could we have felt like that always?
You placed petals atop my eyelids
To make everything seem rosy

Cut me loose
Of this anchored and tamed heart
Teach me the art of not feeling

Everything to Nothing

When I go there, my soul feels how the sky looks at the break of dawn.
And I'm lying on a bed of freshly fallen leaves.
With a sigh, I sink into the colors of red, orange, yellow, and green.
You're singing to me softly, in the key of D.
I raise my voice to meet yours in a simple harmony.
There is no more to desire.
My heart's filled to the brim.
And as I turn my face to yours,
        You pinch me.

God's Face

Yesterday I saw God's face twice. Once in a 70 year old woman, who told me I had a beautiful smile. This happened to come to me when I was feeling ugly and dark.

I saw God's face, again, later that same day. Just minutes after I received some startling and somber news, just after the tears had dried, face had de-puffed. A rather quiet resident(with whom I have zero relationship, have had zero conversations, and have barely made eye contact on more than one or two occasions) told me that I had lovely eyes. You know, eyes have been said to be the window to the soul. At this particular time, I was feeling so low and empty, but he still saw something in my eyes.

And today, I saw God's face. At 5:47 PM, as I was pouring myself a glass of water, the sun shone on me in such a way that a peace washed all of my sadness away.

It really is true. God is there when you need Him the most. Just a reminder.

Hazy-Rosi Golan feat. William Fitzsimmons

This pretty much sums it up. He's always there. I am forever grateful for that.
